HLC Behavioral-Health Curriculum,
Grades Pre-K through 6
Starting at an early age HLC will provide children with the knowledge
and skills to make healthy choices. That is the idea behind the
HLC Program, a cross-curricular behavioral-health curriculum that
can be taught as part of physical education, health or within
a traditional classroom setting.

With just one 45-minute lesson per week, the HLC Behavioral-Health
has proven to increase health knowledge and change behaviors in
youth. The curriculum addresses five youth risk behaviors identified
by the CDC as contributing to the leading causes of early disability
and death in youth. Units include: Life Skills, Conflict Resolution,
Nutrition, Substance Abuse Prevention, Safety and Fitness.
Each
lesson includes an introduction, two hands-on activities and a wrap-up,
plus an optional lesson booster and after-school/summer-camp activity.
HLC's
unique Big Book helps instructors illustrate key concepts without
a blackboard or overhead projector
Kids
love HLC– it's fun and engaging
